Hunting Layout | 2/24

Today I'm sharing one of many hunting spreads I want to make this year. I really wish I could design products, and then I wouldn't have such a hard time finding supplies to use for these spreads. My go to is any paper with a woodgrain pattern.

For this spread I cut a frame from some black paper and adhered it to a simple woodgrain background, added photos, and some leaves and a date stamp.

I cut these leaves from a piece of paper from the Basic Grey Barista line. I picked up a couple sheets and spent the afternoon cutting out the leaves. They work as a better embellishment than background paper.

Thanks for coming by to see this spread. I know hunting offends some people, but we hunt for meat and use as much of the animal as we can/have use for. The photos used in this spread were taken by one of the hunters' wives.

Have a great weekend!

TLP | Love This Guy & His Cat Layout

Good morning! I'm so excited to be sharing with you all today that I've joined The Teal Lime Press creative team. I'm so excited about the opportunity to join Kristine's team and be able to share with all of you some ways that I've used her products. Her newest release was Companion (available here). I made a pocket page spread that I shared on Instagram (Week 3, I'll be sharing in mid February). I also made this traditional layout.

I love this layout. I cropped the digital papers to 4x6 sections so I could print them on my home printer, and since I knew I didn't need much of the paper, the 4x6 size pieces were perfect for my needs. I also used my silhouette to print and cut some of the embellishments from the scrapbook kit. The "love" stamp is from Kellie Stamps, but is no longer available.

Here's the layout. Everything I used on this spread was from the Companion line (except the love stamp). I love how this turned out. I was originally going to use this photo in a pocket page spread using the pocket cards, but decided to just use the pocket cards for a week spread, and so I made a layout about just this photo. I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut "this guy" from the white cardstock and taped the papers to the back.

I see more projects with this kit in my future. It's perfect for documenting the men in your life, and the possibilities are endless. Thanks so much for coming by to see this spread. Pop over to the Teal Lime Press Shop and pick up this kit!

I hope you all have a wonderful day!

Project Life | Week 48

Today I'm sharing the last of my 2015 Project Life pages. This year was full of so many memories and I look forward to flipping through the pages later and seeing all the things we accomplished this year.

Here's the left side. It sort of snowed (2-3 inches overnight) so I felt it was okay to break out my Christmas mugs. We've decided we're going to start doing some Dungeons and Dragons with my sister and her boyfriend, and so Jon ordered some models for all of us, one of my characters is a bear, and I'm actually excited about doing Dungeons and Dragons, even though I complain about how nerdy it is all the time.

Here's the right side. I love my niece and nephew. They're so cute. I love being fortunate enough to see them every week (usually). This week Tori helped make a Christmas light garland (which she wore as a beard). I finally read the physical Big Magic book, and of course I attacked it with post it notes. I'll read it again and highlight those parts later on.
To finish off my album I used some cards from the Inspire value kit. My front page had water colour-y elements so I went with water colours on the back page as well. It's simple and I'm totally okay with that.

I hope you all have a wonderful day! I'll be sharing the beginning of my 2015 album next week. I'm writing this in December, so hopefully I've figured out what I'm doing for the year of 2016 by the time this post goes live.

Project Life | Week 47

Today I'm sharing week 47. This week we began some serious Christmas prep, and I've been fighting the urge to wait until December to put up the tree.

Here's the left side. Some fails, some reading, some super awesome advent Calendars for my boyfriend, and my sisters boyfriend. I love the "okay let's try that again" card. We tried painting some jars for a coworker, but the paint wasn't thick enough and peeled off when we tried to remove the stickers (which were also a little too sticky).
Here's the right side. It's the end of November, and the grass is still very green. I pulled out the tiered star because a coworker was going to help me put things into it, but then I browsed Pinterest and found some ideas that I could make work.

Thanks for coming by to see this spread. One more week from 2015 and then you can see what I've been up to this year!

Project Life | My Plans for 2016

Good morning, or afternoon, or possibly evening. Today I want to share a quick post about my plans for Project Life this year. I can't believe that January is already half over, and I've barely documented anything from this year, but I want to focus on the Stories. This months Story Kit theme from Ali Edwards (here) came at the absolute perfect time.

This year I want my focus to be on the stories of our everyday. The funny things we say to each other, things I see happening around us, things we do, no matter how mundane they may seem to me at any given moment.

Despite it being 2 weeks into January, I haven't started documenting anything. I have little notes here and there, and with Jon seriously injuring his back earlier this week, things have been a little all over the place for a few days. I somehow managed to (I think) settle on a title page finally, but I'll probably change it again.

This year I want to go with a little more simple style. I'm cancelling my Studio Calico subscription, and moving into using my stash, and finding digital products that I feel suit my style better, but I'm still on the path to figuring out what my style is.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Project Life | Week 46

Today I'm sharing week 46/ This week has an insert I'm really excited about. I'm also pretty excited about being so close to finished with sharing 2015 pages.

Here's the left side. Just rying to keep things a little more simply while trying to finish off the year.
Here's the front of the insert. This insert flips open to reveal a full 12x12 pocket page full of photos and journaling, but folds closed to hide all of it.

Here's a look at the left side with the open insert.

The inside of the insert has journaling and photos from shopping, and dress shopping in Saskatoon with my sister and my parents. My sister found her dress (though it was quite the ordeal) and she's getting excited about graduation now. I bought some stuff at Michaels for Christmas, including the little deer ornament, and the letters for Jon's parents. Overall a productive day in the city!

Here's the back of the insert and the right side.

Here's the back of the insert. Shameless food photo. And a couple photos to finish off our trip to the city.
Here's the right side. The top right photo was one my sister sent me when we were trying to figure out what her dress would look like in black. It's gorgeous. So excited for it to come in and see how she looks in it. I'm sure she'll be beautiful. I also got my flair from Scrapbook and More's giveaway that I won. Finished up my in-laws cards and made a giant mess in the craftroom.

The "just an ordinary day" card is a flip up to reveal the two books I read this week. It was kind of a last minute thing, but it made perfect sense and looks like it was there the whole time.

Thank you so much for coming by. Just two more weeks of 2015 pages!

December Daily | 22-31

Happy Wednesday. Today I'm sharing the final pages of my December Daily album. I had so much fun with this project,  but towards the end I was obviously so done with documenting something from every single day of the month. I think that next year I'll stick to the first 25 days and just add the last week to my regular Project Life, or perhaps I'll do both, and keep December Daily to strictly holiday stories. We'll see how much my ideas change or stay the same come December.

Day 22; Jon was painting our Dungeons & Dragons models so we could play with fully painted characters over Christmas (I can't believe I just typed that). He also made a little 4 inch pizza and put it into a 14 inch pizza box, and told two of the waitresses they were getting a free pizza for Christmas. Does it make us horrible people for thinking it was hilarious?

The top left card flips open. I just glued the card to the pocket page because it opens on the other side.

Here's the rest of Day 23. I wanted to include the photo on the other side, but I also wanted to include these two other photos I took that day of the frosty trees.

For this photo, in Photoshop I separated it into separate 3x4 photos and changed the opacity of the top left section before adding my journaling and bringing all the pieces back together on a 6x8 piece. I added a couple of embellishments and called it done.

Day 24; my brother was snapchatting me about my niece coming over in the afternoon to hang out with us and watch a movie. I saved the picture of both kids to add to the album. My niece came over to colour some wrapping paper to wrap a gift her and her brother made their parents back in September. I'd put a picture they coloured together into a frame and wrapped it with our "DIY wrapping paper".

Day 24; I used a digital from this digital set of Kellie Stamps for the top card, and included a photo of our wrapping paper. It's beautiful!

Day 24; The turkey (of course) and some candid shots of my mom and my grandma with my nephew. I printed out an extra copy of each photo and gave it to them. My mom loves hers (I do too) and immediately put it on the fridge. I love that they were dancing and he was so excited about it.

I put some clear plastic stars from one of Ali Edwards' kits in the top pocket and taped it closed, added a wood veneer 24 and some sequins to another and stitched it closed and tucked some cards into the other pockets.

My parents, sister, brother, Jon and I played a few rounds of Cards Against Humanity after my other brother left with the kids. So much laughter. Then Jon (being the child he is) drew poop on the window.

An obligatory bokeh photo of my moms tree. It took us 15 minutes and three phones to get this shot and it's my favourite photo of her tree.

Day 25; A digital file from Ali Edwards (no longer available) a digital paper from one of the December Daily kits and a flair from Scrapbook and More.

On Christmas Day we had Christmas with Jon's family, and the trees were still frosty and beautiful. We went out into the field to test the new truck's off-roading, and I snapped this photo of the frosty trees. The quote just went perfectly with the feeling of the whole day.

For the top left card I used another digital file from Ali Edwards. On the right I put a label on a piece of patterned paper and added the wood veneer number on top.

This album has so many flip up cards, but the one on the left is my favourite. It captures Jon's personality perfectly and while he thinks it's a little embarassing, he was all for me including it in the album, and sent it to me when I said I was going to print photos. The card on the right just continues the December traditions from the front of the left card (I added them after I'd made the first flip card).

Day 26; the top left pocket is a transparent card with yellow circles on it. The bottom right card is just a pattern paper with gold thickers and a gold glitter heart. I love this page. We were just lounging and watching TV and Gracie got so comfy.

Day 27; I used the lines of the lights to add my journaling about having dinner with my parents.

Day 29; I used one of the little labels I made back in early December as a banner to document making some crafts with our friends daughter while they played a couple rounds of a boardgame.

Day 30; I tried out a new photo angle and stood on my chair to capture the game (Elora and I won) and everyone that was playing. Our friends were downstairs doing some laundry after one of them spilt paint on themselves earlier in the afternoon (sorry Nathan, it was a little funny) and we were hanging out with their daughter. We were on a team because she'd never played before.

Day 31; we stayed home and played some Dungeons and Dragons and then my parents came over and we played a couple rounds of Settler's of Catan before watching Pixels.

I used a digital stamp from the 2016 Kellie Stamps set (available when you purchase both the MAGIC and DECEMBER CIRCLES digital sets available HERE) to welcome in the new year. I used some gold items from my stash to say goodbye to 2015.

That's the end of my December Daily album. I'm so excited that it's finished. The album is so full, and I'm so happy with how it turned out. Next year I'm thinking ONE STORY per day might be the better way to go about this. But we'll see.

I'd also like to take this opportunity to direct you over to Kellie's blog where she is having a Creative Team call. I'm currently on her team, and she's beginning her search now for people to join her team starting in March 2016. For all the details you can visit her blog (here). I'm so excited to see who joins the team in March. She's asked myself and a few of the other ladies to hang around for all of 2016 (if we'd like) and I'm so happy that she did. I love her stamps and her team, and I couldn't ask for a better creative team to be on.

I hope you all have a wonderful day! I'll be back on Friday sharing....something. I haven't currently got a project finished to share, but I'll try and pull something together in time for a post on Friday!
