Project Life | Week 2

Today I'm sharing Week 2 of my Project Life. This spread is way more embellished than my usual style, but I love how it turned out. I'm trying to use more of my stash, and make use of all the supplies I bought but haven't really used.
The left side; I chopped up a card from a Studio Calico kit and stapled it to my title card. I added a cork sticker from a super old Studio Calico kit to the far left card. I used a past Kellie Stamp on the right card.
The right side; I used a stamp from Ali Edwards on the top left photo. Found a tag in my stash and used another Ali Edwards stamp to stamp "we are made of these moments" on the tag and then stapled it to the card. I used another stamp from her Storytelling with Project Life class kit ; the physical kit is no longer available, but here's a link to the digital kit. I added more cork circles to the next card, and cut the month card to fit into the 3x4 pocket.

I see a lot more perler bead projects in my future. My niece and I have discovered that we love making different things with them. This week we made some characters from Frozen, and they turned out so cute!

Thanks for coming by to see this spread. I hope you have a wonderful day.

Hunting Layout | 3/24

One of my personal goals this year was to make 2 hunting layouts per month. So around 24 layouts this year. I didn't get any photos of the first layout, but you can see layout number 2 HERE. Today I'm sharing the third layout I've made this year.

I love when you sit down to create and the idea just comes together so well in your head, and translates easily onto the paper.

I love how simple this spread is. I love the corrugated strips. They just add a bit more texture to a pretty simple page. I also love that I had the digital copy of this photo and could put the appropriate day onto this spread.

After the second layout I cut out the leaves from the other page of paper I had with those leaves on it, then I found some printable leaves and printed them onto a woodgrain paper, and then used my silhouette to cut them out. Then I found a set of printable leaves I used on previous layouts and used my silhouette and some sketchpens to draw them and then cut an offset around the outline. I clustered the leaves along the top of the photos and love how they look.

This layout looks amazing in the frame, so if any of you reading this are local, you can pop into the Greenhead Motel & Mallard Restaurant and see this spread and all the other spreads I've made, hanging on the walls in the restaurant.

Have yourself a wonderful day!

#operationreadmore | January

This year I'm doing another reading challenge. This is the third year that I've done the challenge, and the last two years have gone completely differently.

The first year, I stopped reading in the middle of the year and rushed to reach 50 books before the end of the year. Last year, I read 50 books by the end of summer so I increased my challenge to 72 books, and managed to complete that, but for a little while near the end I was afraid I wouldn't get there.

This year my challenge is 65 books. January was full of reading. I made my way through 8 books, but would have been happy with 4. I'm glad I was over in January because I've been busy this month and have only made it through one book. I'm using the challenge tracker on Goodreads.com to keep track of the books I read, you can follow me (here).

The books I read this month were all really well written, but my favourite would have to be Rising Strong. Of course.

Here's a list of what I read this month;
The Cuckoo's Calling by Robert Galbraith (here)
See Me by Nicholas Sparks (here)
Carry On by Rainbow Rowell (here)
Rising Strong by Brene Brown (here)
Still Alice by Lisa Genova (here)
The Unspeakable by Meghan Daum (here)
Brave Enough by Cheryl Strayed (here)
A Dance with Dragons by George R.R. Martin (here)

All the links above just take you to their Goodreads page with their descriptions. No reviews from me. I hate writing them. I either love or hate a book, but I make myself read it all the way through because I've had books that I started out hating and loved at the end.

Thanks for coming by to see my January books. If you're on Instagram, when I post a book I'm reading, I use the hashtag #operationreadmore to keep track of all my book-ish photos.

Have a great day!

Project Life | Week 1

Today I'm sharing the beginning of my Project Life 2016 album. Only a few weeks later than I previously wanted, but all of my attention had previously been on a set of invitations that needed to be finished sooner than later. But those are done, so I've caught up on most of my other projects.

Here's my 2016 title page. I used various digital stamps from Ali Edwards and typed a quote out for the top card.

Here's Week 1. Really simple. Really just the right page of this spread, but I love how it looks.

The left side; More Ali Edwards stamps, and another typed quote. I haven't stitched the pockets with the numbers closed yet because I've been trying to decide if I want to add something to the pocket with them, or if I want to paint the back of the chipboard. The numbers are from a past Ali Edwards December Daily kit, but you can find other chipboard letters & numbers of this size in her shop (here).
The right side; These three photos basically sum up the first 3 days of January. I thought about just combining week 1 & 2 into on full spread, but decided that since I had one photo from each day, and this weird half spread that it would work fine. I used this set of cards from Laurel Lane Designs. Originally I bought them to create a spread and apply for her creative team, but ended up not applying.

Thanks for coming by to see this spread. Have a great day!

Kellie Stamps | February Release

I'm a little late to share a post about the newest release of Kellie Stamps. I was busy making some invitations, and I've learned that if I have a big paid project that I struggle to focus on anything but that. Luckily I'm finished those and can get back to working on projects that I'm excited about. Like the second half of this post!

I made some journal cards you'll see in upcoming Project Life spreads. I also added some stamps from the Month to Day and More of This sets to the photo. I don't usually add them to photos for Project Life, but that picture looks so amazing with the stamps on them.

I also made a traditional layout about my nephew. I love this kid. He's so cute. I used stamps from the More of This set.

The banner on the right wasn't supposed to be lifted off the page, but it got a little bent and I couldn't get it to unbend, so I just left it. I'm sure it'll eventually flatten itself out.

I made some little banners in photoshop. This one is 1/8" tall and looks amazing. One thing I dislike about physical stamps is being unable to alter the size of it. I love that I can alter the size of the digital stamps. I stamped the date the photo was taken on a label and added a bit of washitape and some enamel dots.

I added another little "label" to the bottom of the page and I feel like it perfectly finished off this spread. I love how it turned out, and I'm surprised that I love all the black and white. I usually want to add colour somewhere and have to hold myself back, but this layout came together perfectly with no colour.

Thanks for coming by to see my projects for this month's Kellie Stamps release. You can visit Kellie's blog & Kellie's shop. Search #kelliestamps on Instagram to see inspiration from other ladies on the creative team.

Have a great weekend!
