More Paper Flowers

First, allow me to apologize for the late post. I was up late working on this and didn't manage to get it posted before I called it a night. I struggled a bit with the flower this time around, and then forgot pieces of my tutorial, and then some of the petals weren't staying in place so I tried different things to make them more secure. In the end however, I reverted back to the way I had done it in the beginning. (Before I decided to make a tutorial of it).

This is the first one I made. It turned out better than I thought it would. Though I realize now that I'd stapled it wrong and the petals wouldn't open as much as I had hoped, so I had to use more of them.

Here's what you need: glue dots (I also used my tape gun), 15 2" x 2" squares, stapler, two scalloped circles or other shape to put onto the front, and something for the back to hold everything together.

Take one square and place it face down in front of you. (make sure the side you want showing is facing the table)

Fold the square into a triangle

Fold the bottom corners together to make a smaller triangle.

Fold the bottom right corner of the top layer back to make a smaller triangle.

Repeat on the other side. It should look something like the above picture.

Fold the top corner down to the bottom on both sides.

Staple the petal together like so. Try and make sure that you get both sides. If you don't, staple both sides together separately.

Use your finger to open up the petal (opposite of the end you stapled).

Begin attaching your petals to your base circle. I drew lines on mine so I knew where the centre was, and could divide up the circle evenly. Then I ran over it with my tape gun, and put some glue dots near the centre to secure them.

If you flatten your petals out more you'll need less. but when all your petals are attached you'll have something like this. At this point I used my glue gun to put glue in the centre to secure the petals a little better.

I stamped a sentiment onto my top scalloped circle and set it aside to dry while my glue hardened.

Attach your scalloped circle to the top of your flower. There you have it!

Here's two others that I made! You could attach these to string/twine and use them as gift tags, or attach them to cards, or put them on sticks and place them into a bouquet of flowers.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Happy Mail!

I got some happy mail yesterday from Pick Your Plum!

I love the sticker they put on their packaging! Totally makes it easier to know what I got in the mail!

Hooray! More washitape! I have so much now, but I'm really excited about these ones! Especially the one to the left of the blue stars. It's hard to tell, but it has anchors on it! Can't wait to share some more projects using washitape!

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Tissue Paper Flowers - Tutorial

Another tutorial for you all. You've probably seen tutorials on Pinterest and Youtube. I combined a couple of tutorials and 5 flowers later, I have this tutorial for you all!

Two of the more successful flowers I made before this one I'm about to show you.

Here's what you'll need!
Scissors (a paper slicer could tear the tissue paper)
Pencil
String/Twine (4" per flower)
Tissue Paper
Ruler

Unfold your tissue paper and remove one piece. Refold it in half, and crease the fold.

Fold it in half the same way, again. Crease this fold as well.

Fold it in half the opposite way. Again, crease this fold.

Fold it in half again to form a square and crease the fold.
If you choose, you can use your pencil and ruler to measure out 5" squares, which I used to make this flower.

Unfold the last two folds and cut along one of your fold lines.

Unfold the square and you should have a rectangle with four crease lines. Cut along those lines to make four squares.

Stack your four squares on top of each other, and line up the edges the best you can.

Accordion fold your squares (doesn't have to be perfect, no one will be able to tell).

Fold the center in half and tie your string in a knot around your paper. Trip the ends to the desired shape of flower you want to make (check out the photo at the bottom for more ideas).

Unfold your accordions so it looks something like the above photo. Be careful not to rip the layers.

Pull the layers apart and towards the center then adjust them until you're happy with your flower. Try to keep the bottom flat so it sits nicely.
If you plan to tie it to something like a gift bag, use a longer string. If you want a fuller flower, layer more squares. If you want a larger flower, cut larger squares. You could even use multiple colours in one flower!

Use this photo as a guide for folding/cutting the ends of your flower to achieve different looks for different flowers. Click the photo to visit the blog I borrowed it from!

Happy Wednesday everyone!

Paper & Baby Stamps

There's nothing I love more than craft supply shopping. No matter what I go in to pick up, I always come out with more than I needed! The other day I went shopping for Cream and Pale Yellow paper, and came out with a sage green, pool blue, teal, pale yellow and cream (off white). I also came across some baby stamps that will definitely come in handy when doing more baby cards in the future!

Have a wonderful day!

Happy Canada Day!

Happy Canada Day everyone!
Due to it being a holiday, and having some issues with my eye currently, there will be no crafty post today. But I'll hopefully have something craftastic for you tomorrow!
Hope everyone is enjoying the last day of the long weekend!

Have a great Monday!
