Project Life | Title Page & Week 1

Good morning! Today I'm excited to share the beginning of 2015. This year I want to keep everything in one album, so I'm trying to keep my weeks on one two page spread. So far it's been hard to fill even one two page spread. I haven't been taking many photos, but I'm okay with it. Everything I want to remember is still being written down, or photographed.

This year I'm using this gold woodgrain album by Teresa Collins for We R Memory Keepers. I love it. I need to get a page lifter, but otherwise I love everything about this album. I almost want to switch all my Project Life pages into this album (obviously I'd need more albums).

Here's my title page. I decided I wanted to use cards from my stash because none of the first/last cards from any of the kits I have, were really my style. I cut some patterned paper for the top left pocket, and the rest of the cards came from old Studio Calico kits. I'm so happy with how it turned out.

Here's a close up of one of the cards. I used a gold button from the Maggie Holmes embellishment jar, and had Jon cut the back off of it to make it flat, and glued it onto this card. So happy with how it turned out. Just wish it was a little less bulky.

I used a stamp set from Studio Calico to stamp on this card.

Here's my spread for week 1. I was sick so I didn't take many photos, I included a few things I was working on this week, some movies I watched, texts from Jon, etc. I took A LOT of cold medicine this week. I had the world's worst cold and it took me two weeks to get over it.

Here's the left side. I used some cards from the December Studio Calico kit, and a few from my stash. I wanted to keep it simple, and use mostly photos and my words. Being sick wasn't the way I wanted to start my year, but I took photos of the drugs I was taking, and the cough drops. I made myself a couple of smoothies to get some fruits into my system, and took lots of naps.

Here's the right side. The "currently" card has the movies I watched while home sick. I started watching Grey's Anatomy on Netflix, Jon texted me sweet things that made me smile, and I finished Elizabeth is missing. I worked on sample Save the Date cards for his sister, so I printed those off to include. In Week 2, I include the one that she chose.

Thanks for coming by to see this super simple spread for Week 1. Please don't forget to visit Karen's blog to add your link to the link up! I look forward to seeing your spreads and being inspired!

Have a great day!

Project Life: Week Forty-Nine

Good morning! Today I'm sharing Week 49 of my Project Life. I had planned to share this last week, but being that I was sick, I pushed it to this week instead. I promise that I'll eventually get finished sharing my pages from last year, and start on this year. I think I'm going to stick with weekly spreads, running Monday - Sunday so I can keep the weekends together. I just haven't taken many photos for week 1, or 2 yet. I'm not even sure what week we're currently on.

This week, I used a variety of things, mostly from my stash, but a few that I bought specifically to make a few Christmas-y pages (though most of them aren't over the top Christmas-y). To introduce the month of December, I made this two page spread.

On the left side, I used a cutfile from Wilna over at iheartstudio.ca. This file was included in her Heartfelt Christmas Workshop, but can be purchased in her shop. I made it big enough to fit inside of the wreath that was already on the patterned paper, and cut it out of some red cardstock. I glued it to the paper, and then cut the paper to fit into the individual pockets. I love the way it turned out.

On the right side, I trimmed a piece of 6x6 paper from the My Minds Eye Sleigh Bells paper pad. I cut some more pattern paper for the top right and bottom left pockets, and added a chipboard frame to the top right, and a little tag with important December dates to the bottom left. I added a sequin pocket with a resin present from the Freckled Fawn Very Merry Embellishment kit. The sequins are from my stash. I cut some patterned paper and added some washitape to the card next to the tree. I adhered the tree cutfile from iheartstudio.ca to some red paper.

Here's a close up of my washitape tree. Originally, I was going to use this as my first Washitape Wednesday project, but I'm still not sure if I have enough washitape projects, to make it a regular feature.  The star clip at the top is from Freckled Fawn.

Here's my actual Week 49 Spread. I used the gold foil kit from We R Memory Keepers, and a few cards from the Midnight Edition.

Here's the left side. You can see the back of the sequin pocket. I used the lucky card as my title card, and added journaling to a couple of photos because I had minimal space for journaling cards.

Here's the right side. The top photos are the two attempts we made at dying my sisters hair. I don't have an after picture, so I just used the two of the process. A few things we learned that day were to never believe the internet, Kool Aid doesn't change the color of your hair, I'm still terrible at getting even coats of dye (in this case bleach & dye) on her hair, and box dye doesn't always generate the color they advertise. It was a learning experience, but even after three years of dying her hair for her, I suck terribly at it. So grateful I'm not a hairdresser, or I'd actually have to be good at it.

This week, I'm taking part in a Project Life link up hosted by the lovely Karen Drummond over at Day to Day. (Click the above image to go to her blog). My goal is to add my link to her blog every week, and I might miss some weeks, but I'm going to try my hardest because Project Life is always better when you share it with like-minded people!

Thanks for coming by to see my spread this week. I hope that you'll pop over to Karen's blog and add your link to the party! I'd love to see what you've made!

Project Life: Week Forty-Eight

Good afternoon! Today I'm sharing Week 48. Is anyone else obsessed with taking pictures of the snow and the frosty trees? Seriously, I'm going through my photos for Week 49, and I'm realizing how many photos I actually take when the trees are covered in frost. They're just so pretty! I love winter (most of the time).

This week I used the We R Memory Keepers (WRMK) Blackboard cards. I really wanted to use the "sweater weather is better weather" card from Studio Calico, and they were the closest match I had. Plus with all the snow, I wanted to have some white journaling.

Here's the left side. I probably should have used a plain black title card (I may still change it), but I added the title with white foam alphas, and then wrote the dates below it and added some snowflakes with my white gel pen. I included a couple photos of the snow, and photos of our new sign we made for work (it's been smudged in a few places since we made it).

Here's the right side. We had a bit of a blizzard, which meant more snow. I decided to display one of the three sets of string trees I made. I bought a beautiful tiered star thing from the local yardsale page. I haven't decided on a use for it yet, but I want to find a way to possibly display it year round (and a place to display it of course). I included a photo of the craftroom, and a close up of a layout I recently made, that Jon and I think is funny. I included a few details from the story his dad told me about this particular photo.

I feel that it's definitely important to include things that made you laugh, or smile. It may not seem very important, but when you look back on it, you'll probably still think it's funny. There's a few things we thought were so funny earlier this year and when we look back at them, I'm kinda like "We said things like that? What in the world were we thinking?" and then we just laugh about the fact that we talked like that.

Sorry this post is a little later, I worked on it the other night and thought I'd finished, until I came to work on another post (clearly I'm losing my mind!).
Have a great day!

Scrapbooker's Inner Circle Haul

I have to admit that when it comes to buying Project Life supplies online, Scrapbooker's Inner Circle is my go to place. They have both Project Life brand and We R Memory Keepers. I've ordered from them numerous times, and they always surprise me with how quickly my packages arrive. I ordered this particular one two weeks ago on Friday, and it arrived the following Wednesday.

This order was much smaller than the last one, since I have pretty much everything I want, I'm just waiting on a few more things to come in (soon).

This is possibly the most exciting thing in the box. This is the Aqua kit. Its very bright and fun, and full of quotes (some find them overly cheesy). I feel like it'll be a nice addition to my collection.

I also bought another 12x12 album. I'm short one because it broke (the rings detached from the back) and I haven't found a box to fit it into to mail it back to American Crafts so they can replace it. I also bought two little Instagram albums from We R Memory Keepers. Our generation Instagrams A LOT of our photos, and I have a few I want to stick in an album. I also imagine I'll use one for my sister's highlights from her Ireland trip next year.

I bought more pens. These ones are "The Ultimate Craft Pen" by American Crafts. They're not the Project Life pens I bought last time. So I'm interested to see how these compare. It says that these will write on photos, are waterproof, etc. so we'll see. I also bought 6x8 pocket pages, and the 6x8 pages with 2 4x6's. I bought two packages of the 4x4 Instagram pages, and two packages of the 4 2x2 instagram pages.

Top left: Farmer's Market. I'm waiting for the 4x6 & 3x4  version to come to SIC so I can get it. It's beautiful! Very vintage-y. Bottom left: Studio Gold. It's the same as the large one on the right, just in Instagram size. I'm excited about both of these since gold is super popular. I'm in love with them. So gold and pretty!

Where are your favourite places to shop online?

Have a great weekend!

Project Life: Week Twenty-Five

Good morning! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend, assuming anyone is still reading this. MY weekend was a little hectic. Thursday last week we had a funeral six hours from home, so we ended up staying the weekend at my Grandma's and came home last night.

Today I'm sharing week 25. This week I stuck within a kit to make this spread. I tried to venture out to other kits, but none of the colours matched, so I worked with the We R Memory Keepers Captured line.

Here's the left side. I added little wood veneers to the title card. They came from the May or June Studio Calico kit. I journaled on the top right and bottom left photos.

Here's the right side. I journaled on the top photos and the bottom left photo. I added a journaling card to the 3x4 photo on the bottom right.

This week was pretty simple and straight forward. Thanks for stopping by!
